From December 19th to 21st, the 4th International Symposium on Ethical Literary Criticism was held in Shanghai. This symposium was jointly sponsored by the Editorial Department of Foreign Literature Studies, the International Association for Ethical Literary Criticism (IAELC) and School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and co-sponsored by the IAELC of CCNU. Around 300 Chinese and overseas scholars attended the symposium. CCNU Prof. Nie Zhenzhao, Chief Editor of Foreign Literature Studies and Vice President of IAELC, presided over the opening ceremony.
In the symposium, 17 experts took the floor in three plenary speeches and 13 panel sessions were held. Attendees exchanged ideas on Literature Ethics Criticism. Prof. Shang Biwu, Deputy Secretary-General of IAELC, presided over the closing ceremony.
This was the fourth International Symposium on Ethical Literary Criticism since Prof. Nie first advocated it in 2004. Prof. Su Hui, Deputy Editor of Foreign Literature Studies, thought highly of this symposium and believed that the fifth symposium to be held in South Korea in 2015 would further academic research and cooperation in this field.
