On the evening of November 3rd, 2016, the opening ceremony of sports meeting was held at the Youming stadium in Central China Normal University.
In recent years, CCNU has been focusing on international development, which has successfully attracted many foreign students from all over the world to study here. International students also showed their enthusiasm which made the ceremony more memorable and splendid.
The first performance of the ceremony was an excellent fashion show provided by students from College of International Cultural Exchange. Exchange students from Thailand, Korea, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Malaysia and other countries showed their traditional clothing and accessories. After their show, we interviewed some students. One student from Maldives told us that the traditional costume she wore represents mountains and islands of her motherland; one Malaysian student told us that she was wearing popular costume of Malacca, which was a little bit transparent and the tiny flower on her hair showed unique charm from her home islands; one Thai student showed us the special pants he was wearing called "Chut Thai", which is very similar to our knickerbockers. One student from Samoa purposely wore a special and traditional necklace and he was showing it to us with pride. Students in different clothing styles came onto the stage, representing different cultures. In the mean time, it also shows multicultural communications brought by CCNU’s international development.
When square arrays of all colleges were entering the stadium, students from College of International Cultural Exchange were holding different national flags and walking through the stage with maximum enthusiasm. Although they are from different countries all over the world. under the stage they hugged and cheered together. During the interview, they all mentioned that they felt extremely excited about sports meeting this year because universities of their countries wouldn’t hold this kind of comprehensive sports event for so many students from different places. One Russian student said: “Everybody looks happy! This is so cool and well-organized! People are enjoying themselves. They are into it!”.
In the DJ show, which was the last performance of the ceremony, exchange students’ dancing figures on the stage were impressive and unforgettable. We truly felt about their fire-like passion.
Last night the Youming stadium was full of joy. Exchange students and Chinese students were chatting, taking photos, laughing and hugging together. This is a good chance for us to communicate with foreigners and it’s the achievement of CCNU’s efforts on international development.
