A cooperation agreement between CCNU and Griffith University was signed at the conference held in the Yifu
International Conference Center, CCNU on Nov. 2nd.
The delegation led by Prof. Ian O’Cannor, President of Griffith University (GU),Mr. Lee Xinqing, President of
Australian Education Management Group was warmly welcomed by Wang Enke, Vice President of CCNU and other
leaders. At the beginning, the Vice President Wang Enke gave a brief introduction to the leaders of Griffith
University present at the conference and looked back on the achievements of the cooperation between two
universities in the past 5 years. The joint degree project with Griffith University in social work major was
initiated by Vice President Lee Xiangnong in 2011 and approved by Education Ministry of China in 2012. And last
year the Sino-Australian Social Work Research Center was set up in CCNU, which is a milestone for both sides. “
The breakthrough we made in discipline construction of social work will deepen our cooperation in other fields.
” Vice President Wang Enke mentioned “I look forward to visiting Griffith University and achieve further
collaboration.”
Then, Prof. Ian O’Connor, Chancellor of GU firstly recalled his visiting to CCNU in 2013 and the first
agreement he signed that year. He emphasized that the criterion for measuring a successful project is to examine
the fruits of the program. “The visiting to the Sino-Australian Social Work Research Center this morning give
me a firm belief that the cooperation can be beneficial to mutual sides” Prof. Ian O’ Connor said. He
expressed his expectation to expand the cooperative field, based on the need of market and priority fields of
study of both sides. At the end of his speech, he appreciated support from Mr.Lee Xinqing, the President of
Australian Education Management Group. Mr Lee Xinqing offered his congratulations to the successful cooperation
between the two universities.
Finally, Wang Enke, Vice President of CCNU and Prof. Ian O’Cannor, Chancellor of Griffith University (GU)
signed the contract and exchanged presents.
